How easy can we make this!!  Purchase this kit and we will assemble it and prewire everything so all you have to do is plug in the power to make it work.  Once you understand how it works and and ready to install, simply transfer each item to your layout and reconnect as it was in the box.  A full size picture comes along so you dont have to remember.

This version of our Precision Detector (NANO Dual) will determine whether the train is coming from the East or the West (North or South) and separately trigger a device such as our SMART Switch or any of our family of Signal Controllers. To prevent derailment of trains crossing a mis-directed turnout you can use our standard Precision Detector on the Frog side of the turnout connected to a SMART Switch but you can also protect the train while it is in the turnout by placing the NANO DUAL on the outboard side. This keeps the turnout aligned with the train until it is completely clear of the turnout. HOWEVER, you don’t want the detector to react if the train is approaching from the mainline. The NANO Dual allows you to set this up. Another application is to selective trigger a specific soundtrack on the Sound Module specific to the direction of travel. We also envision automated stopping and starting of trains based on some automation logic without using a computer – and the NANO Dual will come in handy to help with this automation.

Update (OCTOBER 15, 2023)

Both the Single and Dual NANO Precision Detectors are available in EITHER “Through Hole”  and Slide-Under-Track versions.  THESE REPLACE the Tethered-Wired version.  

1. The slide under track comes with a 3D Printed electric box to cover the connector.  This allows you to unplug and remove the sensor without digging up your scenery.   The same box is used for both N and HO since the connector end is identical in size.  The length of the tongue is all that varies between the two scales.
2. A Friction Nut is supplied with all the “Through Hole” versions. This is snug but easily removable and keeps the sensor head in place.
3. Updated software to include a “pulsed” one shot signal or a steady ON/OFF following the sensor trigger.  This can be used for some fun automation for starting, stop and reversing the direction of the train.

Our detection technology is the smallest, fastest, most reliable train detector available today AND it slides under the rails of N Scale and all other scales.  No need to dig up your track!

The NANO PD has two 9″ twisted wired sensors that allow you to place it under the track and the Detection Controller under the layout.

Like all our other Precision Detectors this is NOT a reflective IR (Infrared) sensor.  Instead of measuring reflected light it measure the distance of an object in its viewport down to 1mm precision.  That means is works in any light condition and it doesn’t matter if the lighting is constantly changing.  The NANO PD allows you to set the sensing distance for N, HO and O/S with the push of a button.  You can also use the Auto Calibrate more to set the sensing range form 1 to 150mm so the sensor can be placed almost anywhere.

Like the other Precision Sensors you can adjust the timeout (time delay of sensor release) to immediate, 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 and 60 seconds.

The NANO Dual also has auto calibrate so that you can set the sensor distance to anything between 5 and 150mm.

The MTT Bell Controller is unique in many ways. The first is that you can record your own sounds and play them based sensors triggers or switches – or DCC. The Sound Controller has a small MP3 player inside along with a baffled speaker. It provides a big sound in a small package. What is an MP3 player you might ask?

Here are the primary features:

• You can download or create your own MP3 audio files and play them on the MTT Sound Controller. You can use your PC, Apple Mac or a mobile phone to create audio files. If you use your phone you will need to copy it to your PC and then convert it to MP3. There are many, many free MP3 conversion programs. Eventually we will have a download page where you can download sounds that we have found or recorded. There are also many web sites to which you can subscribe that have MP3 sound files.
• You can record up to 4 minutes of sound.
• There are four tracks available so you can mix and match different length audio.
• The volume can be set and saved.
• NO PROGRAMMING is required.

The G Scale Motorized Crossing Gate is simple to operate and looks like the real thing!  The Gate Controller ( and the signal/motor) runs on 12VDC  and needs only a Signal wire connection to a Precision Detector MAX to operate. You can use a Solar Battery, our Power Module or the 12VDC Power Supply (All available in our store)

The Crossing Gate unit is weather tolerant which means if it accidentally gets wet the unit will not be ruined. BUT – don’t leave the unit outside or cover it when not in use.

The Crossing Controller is NOT weather proof (or tolerant) and must be protected from weather.

PRODUCTION TIME FROM ORDER IS about 10 days. 

You can connect either the Bell Module (to be releases shortly) or the Sound Module using the same signal wire for the detectors. Order Separately.

For East/West detection, add a second Precision Detector MAX and join the signal wires.

There are two options for mounting the crossing:  4 x 4 Rubber blocks or the newly introduced Thin Magnet Mounting

There are four pre-recorded sound tracks (4 different crossing bells ). You can load your own sounds and we provide the USB cable.

To select a sound, simply connect the SIGNAL OUT from the G Controller to any one of the four input terminals on the G Sound Module board.

The sound is quite loud even with the case on.  However, you can connect a remote speaker instead.  We also provide terminals for DIGITAL OUT which can be use to connect to the input of an Amplifier.

The rubber mounting block is an option.
