Here it is!   This is the N Scale Caboose Board for DC only operations.  It includes 2 SuperCaps and the circuitry to run on any DC layout up to 16VDC.  And, no flicker!  We also include a LED Chip in case you want to light your Cupola.  We include a set of Floating Brass strips.

You can adjust the brightness of the onboard LEDs by choosing the combination of LEDs and soldering their pad. (You can remove the solder and change the light settings.)

Just put it on the track and go.  The board needs at least 5.5V to start the circuit but after that, the light glow at a constant brightness. And no need to figure out polarity!

(Sorry we don’t have the full installtion video yet but this is a very simple install.)

All boards come with a set of AUX pads so you can install rear end lighting – which is controllable separately form the main cabin lights.  Special effects include Blink and Flicker.  (Coming soon: Mars, Beacon, Blip)

If your car does NOT have wheel pickups (all KATO cars have them built in) then use our “Floating Brass” wheel pickups.  There are very simple to install and are the best solution we know.  We did not set out to sell brass wheel pickup but of course we needed a good solutions.  WE TRIED EVERYTHING until we stumbled across this super simple and super reliable solutions.  These brass strips are specially etched for the right size, thickness and malleability – from Scotland!

The Kit includes:

1.  DCC Decoder Light board with TrainSense motion sensing and 4 attached white LEDS (2000k or 3000k)
2. N Scale Floating Brass (for electrical pickup).
3. One LED chip for use in the cupola – connects to the on aboard Decoder pad.
4. One  Lantern with RED LED

Our Caboose board kit comes with the latest Caboose board that includes automatic light activation via a solid state motion sensor on the board.  You can still use your DCC Cab to turn the lights on and off, but you don’t have to.

Engineering update:  The N Scale caboose board represents significant engineering advancements in both design and manufacturing.  The densely populated board is a 4 layer PCB and has the SuperCaps mounted on the bottom.  The accelerometer used for sensing motion is similar to what you would find in your smart phone.  The microprocessor and software have been upgraded and updated to meet the new functionality.  The old adage that “simple is hard” is true !
